Writing Services

Who better to write content for your therapy practice than a therapist?

Someone who knows the difference between EMDR and ESPN, counter transference from countertops, object relations from public relations.

I’ve built a seven-figure group practice in Washington, D.C., one of the most therapist-saturated markets in the country, due in part to my ability to effectively communicate and promote our services to the public. In addition to writing all of the content for our website (www.dctalktherapy.com), I’ve written everything else, too, from our employee handbook to our welcome packet to every newsletter and templated email.

At Pen And Practice, my goal is to write crystal-clear and compelling content so that you’re able to attract your ideal clients and grow your therapy practice.

I provide copywriting for therapists, counselors and psychologists in solo practice and group practice.

Here’s what I can help with:

  • Website content
  • Therapist profiles on sites like Psychology Today and Good Therapy
  • Google My Business profile

Website Content

I have a strong understanding of search engine optimization (SEO), so I’ll write content for you that will improve your website’s Google ranking. And the higher you rank with Google — the undisputed search engine leader — the easier it is for clients to find you.

Another excellent way for your therapy practice to be found on Google is to work with private practice’s leading expert on Internet marketing, Joe Bavonese. Here’s a link to his site, which is also featured on my “Recommended Services” page: https://www.uncommonpractices.com/

I can write one page of your therapy website, your entire website site, and everything in between. I can also do work on an as-needed basis, meaning that I can write a few pages for you now and then a few more pages at some point later. We’ll discuss your needs in the initial phone call.

I work collaboratively, which means that I’ll ask for your feedback during the process. I’ll send you a draft, then we can do up to two rounds of edits until you’re satisfied with the work. I’ll do my best to incorporate your ideas.

No matter the assignment, I try to get a sense of your voice and write accordingly. I want the words to appear as if they’re coming directly from you, so in that way I work as a kind of ghostwriter.

Therapist Profiles

I’ve written several therapist profiles on Psychology Today and Good Therapy — the two most popular therapist sites. On those sites, with its limited amount of space, it’s critical that I highlight things like your specialty areas (OCD, for example) and differentiators (evening and weekend hours).

Google My Business Profile

I do similar work on Google My Business (GMB) (www.google.com/business), which is a free tool that can drastically improve the visibility of your therapy practice. Many practice owners I’ve spoken to don’t know that it’s available to them, so creating a GMB profile is one way to gain a competitive advantage over your competition.

GMB allows you to create, verify and edit a business listing in Google. It was created to make it easier for online searchers to get the information they need quickly and conveniently.

There are multiple benefits to your therapy practice having a GMB listing: It can get you featured in what’s known as a “three-pack” result (a map with three local businesses pinned onto the page, appearing on top of the standard organic search results); it improves your website ranking; and it showcases user reviews.

According to Google, by having a GMB listing, businesses are 70% more likely to attract local visits from browsing users.
